Hi #PREGGOS and #GYNE Girls!
You need to sit down for this one. NEWS FLASH– There’s a new public health threat and it affects YOU- now some forms of Gonorrhea are resistant to our drugs! Ladies- this is a HUGE problem.
Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease that infects the cervix, uterus, and fallopian tubes in women, AND the urethra in both women and men.
Google these words- you need to know what your lady parts look like and the correct names of them. It can also grow in the mouth, throat, eyes, and anus. Gonorrhea is very contagious.
DRAMA!
Every year in the US about 820,000 people get new gonorrhea infections. You already know how you get this right? – Anal, Vaginal, or Oral sex. Use a condom! Gonorrhea can also be spread from an untreated mother to her baby during childbirth; that’s why we put ointment in your baby’s eyes when they are born. Your man or woman may not have symptoms- if they do, burning or pain when urinating, or a white, yellow, or green discharge from the penis or vagina can occur. Some men may have “blue balls”- swollen or painful testicles. Anal itching or sore throat are also common symptoms. For women gonorrhea is drama because it can spread into the uterus and fallopian tubes and cause pelvic inflammatory disease, which leads to chronic pelvic pain, not being able to get pregnant, and increased risk of having tubal pregnancies. Drama- just because you didn’t use condoms!
GET THE TEST
A urine sample can be used to test for gonorrhea. But, if you had oral and/or anal sex, swabs must be collected to get samples from the throat and/or rectum. If you test positive, you must tell your partner and they have to go to their doctor. The problem lies in your treatment.
Now Gonorrhea has developed resistance to the antibiotic drugs. To date, there have been 249,000 cases reported of drug resistance for gonorrhea. Scary!
Did I every tell you to use condoms? LADIES- Also why do you keep having sex with your man and keep re-infecting yourself with STDs? First of all you shouldn’t be having unprotected sex- Always use a condom! Second of all, if you didn’t go to the health department or doctor with your man OR see the results from his tests with your own eyes, don’t have sex with him! He still has gonorrhea and is lying to you. Tricky Men! -SMH… Third of all he’s cheating- Different topic different day! Once a cheater, always a cheater! Off of my soapbox now… Remember, always use condoms even when having oral sex- never trust someone with your life.
