Hi #GYNEGirls, #Preggos, and #GENTs! It’s me- your FAV OBGYN Dr. Drai. I am STILL in #ChiTown celebrating my first year anniversary as #AmericasOBGYN. I know you want to know so let Dr. Drai SPILL the TEA. The “Medical T” LIVE talk show was DABOMB.com. THANK YOU ALL for showing up AND showing out. Your questions were off the chain. I wasn’t a bit surprised about THAT; I know my #GYNEGirls. LOL! #GENTs- you represented as well. I have been SO busy since I’ve been here. You know I never travel without doing some media interviews chile-Always multitasking. Enough about me…I need to get this one off my chest. Some of you #GYNEGirls have been saying that you shouldn’t go to the OBGYN every year anymore. You don’t need pelvic exams? WRONG! WRONG! WRONG.com! Let me clear this up.
The American College of Physicians (ACP) published guidelines in the Annals of Internal Medicine saying doctors can skip the pelvic exam for women who are not #Preggo and have no weird symptoms. BOOGERS!!! THEY ALSO said the pelvic exam does not find disease as well as previously thought; it doesn’t reduce death; and it leads to many false positives, resulting in unnecessary testing and anxiety. Here’s Dr. Drai’s take on this situation. I get it; there’s no scientific evidence to support or refute an annual pelvic exam for a low-risk patient with no symptoms. The decision to do a pelvic exam should be shared with YOU and ME-some #GYNEGirls prefer it to give them reassurance.
AND…Dr. Drai uses the pelvic exam to teach his #GYNEGirls about their bodies, reassure them of normalcy, and answer specific questions. He can diagnose incontinence and sexual dysfunction issues as well. Catch THAT “Medical T”! BUT most importantly, Dr. Drai gets to promote healthy living and preventive care; which is WHY I got in THIS business in the first place! So do you need to go to your OBGYN every year? YES! Until Next time…
